Battlebot Lot

Battlebot Lot
Why there haven’t been any unlimited class battlebot games?

The original battlebots were especially wimpy because of contest rules and safety, so that it was only a short time before the winners were mostly the ones that had a low profile and flipped opponents. It would have been a lot more fun if we had unlimited class battlebots that brought serious power to see some real destruction. How come it’s not been done yet?
Absolutely, amansscientiae, it shows that evolution works. But hey, don’t throw a wet towel on this idea before it’s even started! Okay, we can have rules prohibiting thermonuclear weapons.

OK, it sounds to me like battlebots work the same way as demolition derbies did back when I was a kid. In demolition derbies, 100 cars would drive onto a field and crash into each other until there was only one car still running. Naturally, the car that won usually did it by hiding in a corner and letting the other 99 cars take each other out. I liked to think of it as a metaphor on global conquest.
