A Little Help With Ceramics?
Okay guys, I really need your help. For art class, we’re doing this type of art there at first glance its supposed to look like whatever we wanted it to (a kangaroo, a monkey, a house, etc) then when you look closely theres supposed to be a function to it. Like a friend of mine is doing a Penguin that opens up and its a Cookie Jar.
I was struggling to come up with something, then I thought of like a backyard swing y’know, and in the top there can be a compartment for notes or whatever but it would be hard, i think impossible to make. Cuz you know the seat made of clay must be heavy and its gotta be hanging off something.
Does anyone have an idea so that this would work? Anything to help me, like advice on how to make that swing? Or a simple but not totally easy project I could do? I really am brain-dead, I don’t normally post for stuff like this.

The traditional backyard swing is so skeletal that you are fighting the nature of clay to model it. I would suggest you look at pictures of porch swings or swings in garden settings, both of which have a surrounding housing to hang the swing seat and hold the notes, etc.
