Anyone like logic puzzles?
A few friends meet each morning for coffee. For one of them, it is the only cup of coffee all day. For another, it’s only the first of eight cups. Your challenge is to figure out how many cups of coffee each person drinks per day, how many sugar lumps they use per cup and whether or not they put in milk.
1) Jan uses 3 times as many lumps as the person who drinks 4 cups.
2) Three people, including the one who uses 4 lumps, use no milk.
3)The one who drinks 1 cup a day (not Max) drinks his coffee black without sugar.
4) Doris uses both milk and sugar.
5) Max, who uses no milk, uses half as many sugars as the person who drinks twice as many cups as he does.
6) Boris drinks two more cups than Jan, but Jan uses two more sugars than Boris.

I think there may be a problem with your clues. In all the clues there are four people mentioned: Jan, Doris, Max and Boris. Clue 3 indicates at least one person does not use sugar. Clue 1 indicates Jan uses sugar. Clue 4 indicates Doris uses sugar. Clue 5 indicates Max uses sugar. There are no clues that indicate Boris uses sugar (and by process of elimination from the preceding clues) it would seem Boris is one person who does not use sugar. If there is only one person who does not use sugar, then, according to Clue 3, if Boris does not use sugar he must also be the one who drinks 1 cup. However, according to Clue 6, Boris drinks 2 cups more than Jan, so Boris must drink at least 3 cups. Therefore, Clue 3 cannot relate to Boris and there must be a fifth person involved who is “not Max”.
This introduction of a fifth person who we do not have a name for other than “not Max”, makes me think there is a problem with how the clues have been given. So, there are probably multiple answers to the way the the problem has been stated. The following is one possible answer that meets all the criteria given by the clues:
Jan drinks 6 cups with 6 lumps with milk.
Clue 1 => 3 times as many lumps as the person who drinks 4 cups (Max with 2 lumps).
Clue 6 => 2 cups less than Boris (8 cups) and 2 sugars more than Boris (4 lumps).
Max drinks 4 cups with 2 lumps and no milk.
Clue 5 => No milk, half as many lumps as the person who drinks 8 cups (Boris with 4 lumps).
Doris drinks more than 1 cup but neither 4 nor 8 cups (only one person drinks 1, 4 or 8 cups). She uses at least 1 lump, but not 4 because only 1 person can use 4 lumps and milk.
Clue 4 => Doris uses at least 1 sugar and milk.
Boris drinks 8 cups with 4 lumps and no milk.
Clue 6 => 2 more cups than Jan (6 cups) and 2 less lumps than Jan (6 lumps).
“not Max” drinks 1 cup with no lumps and no milk.
Clue 3 => “not Max” drinks 1 cup with no sugar or milk.
Clue 2 => Three people use no milk (Max, Boris and “not Max”).
There will be other answers that fit the clues as well.
