Do you think “ULTRAMAN” was the greatest in the history of mid-60s Japanese-exported TV Series?
I mean… as a youngster, I grew up in the hey-days of Japanese Anime… from Marine Boy, Speed Racer, Battle of the Planets (aka: G-Force), Star Blazers (aka: Space Battleship Yamato), Tranzor Z (aka: Mazinger Z), Voltron, Robotech, Gundam, Dragonball Z and Dragonball GT, among others.
Then (for those who grew up in the mid and late 70s) you used to watch reruns of exported Japanese-TV Heroes such as: Johnny Sokko and his Flying Robot, ULTRAMAN (the first series, ‘cos they’re were a LONG SERIES of ULTRAS, so to speak), Spectreman and the Space Giants.
In my opinion, I was fascinated watching ULTRAMAN… I even liked the opening credit sequence, once the show started. It was never a dull moment watching the action, the special effects and the storyline. It’s now legendary, and the series is timeless… ‘cos after 40 years of its first series, lots of people (ages:27-35) couldn’t resist talking about the series as well as the characters. “SHOOWATCH!”
I have to think that all anime robots and such are patterned after that series. I watched it religiously.
