What is the value of my SSG 81 Condor Knife?

I wondered if this knife is of no value, as I found in my basement, in a pile old boxes. The blade is marked, Condor U.S., model number 81 and SSG Pat. Pending. On the other hand, Seizo Imai, Seki Japan with the model number A1-07042. And keep in mind, there is an engraving of a condor in the pillow.

Kaizen: Continuous Improvement

"A common sense approach and cost management" – Gemba Kaizen, Masaaki Imai.

"In Japanese, Kaizen means continuous improvement. The word means an improvement involving everyone – both managers and workers – and carries a relatively low cost. Philosophy Kaizen is our way of life – is that our work life, social life, or our home life – should focus on continuing efforts to overcome " said Masaaki Imai, Kaizen guru, in his book Gemba Kaizen `." Kaizen emphasizes cleaning, an essential ingredient for good management, waste disposal to be profitable, and standardization to ensure quality. Observation, prioritization, data collection, and standardization are essential for the implementation kaizen. "It is aimed at MUDA – which is the Japanese word for waste. Striking a waste, not value adding activities and tries to remove them, which in while improving operations, productivity and profits, "said Payal Sheth, who co-author of" Chronicles of a quality detective. "

The Japanese are said to apply this concept in his life through history. Its graph general industrial growth rose even while the western economies moving horizontally. In the 1980s, when Japan opened to the world, the reason for this growth – kaizen, became evident and also western economies began to experience an exponential growth since its implementation. As a result, while advances are important, there is a constant focus on improving existing processes, whether or not problematic. And once they have made the necessary improvements, these processes are standardized.

Kaizen's appeal is in fact who believes in using existing resources – either labor or machinery and does not believe in high-cost investments. And that anyone can adopt, by simple observation. "Yes, in the long run you need to get training to further develop the theme," says Sheth.

These methods are formalized and taught Kaizen Institute around the world. Consultants also conduct workshops.

Detection of quality problems
"Chronicles of a detective quality "as co-author Dr. Gondhalekar (Dr. G) and Payal Sheth is a treasure trove of case studies, emphasizing the use of kaizen methods to address the problems that even experts in the field are unable to control. The reason simply is that, like Sherlock Holmes, Dr. G and Sheth fully concentrate on the problem, data collection time real being with the whole process, collect enough data instead of being overwhelmed by it, use logic and knowledge and never interfere with past experience collection of evidence. As a result, the problems they have had months and still defy logic resolved within days.

"All been given brains. Just use it and be able to address the problems we face, "says Dr. N Ravichandran, President (Operations), Lucas TVS, who is an expert kaizen.

Relevant in all industries
Kaizen is not relevant only in the workshop, but in industries and in all operations. "It works very well in the services sector," says Sheth. This has been amply demonstrated in Luke-TV, an auto parts manufacturer from Chennai, India, where 5220 is Kaizens implemented from the tools and implements are stored in a way how starters are made to the way in which mediclaim claimed by employees, conducting a cost overall savings of Rs 63,65,670.

Kaizen is a team effort, with small groups working together to achieve continuous improvement. The motivation has to come from the top, but the application has to be the whole organization. The fact that companies have to differentiate themselves from their competition by reducing costs and improving productivity has become popular among companies in India kaizen, but its implementation occurs in spikes.

Last word
Although it may at first appear that the consultant fees are too high, compared with the savings that will ultimately make the company does not appear at all. It is the picture that matters.
