Port Dickson – Beach Town In West Malaysia

With a coastline in excess of eighteen kilometers, it is no wonder that the town of Port Dickson continues to be admired by locals and tourists alike. It is wonderfully lined with evocative palm trees and plant life, and the gently lapping waters of the Strait of Malacca just add to the appeal of this beach resort town in the state of Negeri Sembilan.

There are many beaches that make up the impressive coastline of Port Dickson; but most favored of all is Teluk Kemang just along the coastal road. Amongst the longest single beaches in the area, it is somewhat of a mecca for those interested in sports above and in the water.

Also popular, and certainly with those not wanting a great deal of activity around them, The Blue Lagoon is a relaxing breakaway. There is still plenty to do in the region just nine miles south of the center of the town, but being just a little off the main road in the region, things are just that little slower paced.

The water plays a large part across the region of course. The location of the first visit from competitive yachting in Malaysia, Port Dickson is proud of its marina with first class facilities. Though amateurs and tourists are welcome; it continues to be a popular place to visit for the professionals and serious enthusiast.

There are many more activities to keep visitors interested however, including many historical and cultural sites. From the museum and fort at the old tin mining village of Lukut, to simply enjoying the breathtaking vistas along the coast; there is something for everyone.

The activities do not stop as the time wears on; with a host of nightlife to choose from. The restaurants of Port Dickson are well renowned, with many of the finest chefs of Malaysia heading to the resort. Creating local specialties and fusion food is somewhat of maxim for the area too.

There are many younger backpackers and the like that spend time in Port Dickson; and many of these prefer to camp out by the beach. It is easy to appreciate the attraction of a night beneath a fantastic blanket of stars, but there are more conventional places to stay of course.

When choosing a Port Dickson hotel; the choice is not an easy one. All the major chains have a presence; whilst there are a number of private ventures. Whatever the choice, you are sure to have wonderful time.
