Future Indian space missions
Chandrayaan-2 will be the second mission to the moon India lanuched by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) in 2013. It is the second unmanned lunar exploration mission, proposed by the ISRO, at a projected cost of Rs. 425 rupees (U.S. $ 90 million. The mission includes a lunar orbiter and a lander / rover. ISRO plans to land a rover on the moon motor probably in 2012 as part of its mission Chandrayaan seconds. The wheeled vehicle can move on the lunar surface to collect soil and rock samples for chemical analysis of the site. The data is sent to Earth by Chandrayaan II, which will be in lunar orbit.
History of the Chandrayaan-2
The Indian government approved the mission on September 18, 2008. In 12 November 2007, representatives of the Russian Federal Space Agency (Roskosmos) and ISRO signed an agreement for the two agencies to work together on the Chandrayaan-2 project. In November 2007, the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and Russian Federal Space Agency (Roskosmos) have signed a joint research and exploration mole. ISRO will have primary responsibility for the orbiter and Roskosmos will be responsible for the probe / Rover.
Specification of the Chandrayaan-2
Chandrayaan II will consist of the spacecraft itself and a landing platform with the lunar rover. The weight 58 kg rover with six wheels and powered by solar energy. Design is Russian and land near one of the poles and survive for a year, traveling up to 150 km at a speed of 360 m / h. The platform with the rover will detach from the spacecraft after the spacecraft reaches its orbit above the moon and land on lunar soil. Then the rover deployment of the platform. It will be launched in India Vehicle Geosynchronous Satellite Launch (GSLV) around 2011-12 time frame. The boat will most likely be launched in 2013. The Chandrayaan 2 is expected to be operational in the next two years, after the life of the current mission Chandrayaan 1 comes close to an end.
Chandrayaan-2 Design
The initial phase of the Chandrayaan design is completed in August 20, 2009. The Chandrayaan 2 mission will be a lunar rover that dropped on the surface Moon once the ship reaches the lunar orbit. The main duty of the rover would collect and analyze the lunar surface and transmit data to the data center on earth. Relevant note here is that while the spacecraft would be autochthonous fact, the lunar rover will be made by Russia. From the design phase of Chandrayaan-2 is completed, be seeing a prototype of the Chandrayaan 2 soon. Over the next two years, work on the spacecraft is expected to continue at a steady rate until launch day.
