How do I get my dog gives me my space?
My dog follows me around the house constantly after he returned from work. My husband is inside and outside the house all day and have much contact with her. I give love and affection and pay a lot of attention to it after dinner and play with it all it can in the yard or the house. But if I try to sit and read the paper tv, or see, or simply "vegge" which is practically on top of me. Me legs or give me a nudge, or sets under my feet. She did not leave me alone at all, and this goes on all night. I need my space and I've tried to make her out to establish or encourage her to bite one of his toys. Her, but for about 2 minutes and is back. She hangs ….. that's a perfect word for it.
When I need space, I say, "Well, enough is enough, mom will read .. watch tv … dinner now. "So I say" off "as I lower my lap, and gently insist that they stay in my lap time. Do not talk to them or pet them or even make eye contact. At first you have the time to last only about 1 minute, then you can increase the time. It has a end of delay period, which they call "come" and give you lots of pets. This is what she knows there is light at the end of the tunnel one minute is forever in a dog's mind. However, you are entitled to have some quiet time without the dog nudging, licking, walking, crying, etc etc on everything. One thing though, you can not make a dog does not follow around the house. The only treatment I can give my dogs absolutely positively keep your attention for a Greenies period of time! We save for Friday nights when there is a boxing movie.
