Sterling Silver

Sterling Silver
What is the difference between silver and silver?

I have a ruby ring from Kay Jewelers and silver is sorta took off. I only received last month and idk if silver or silver, I do not know the difference, but I thought that since these are real gems should not change color or wear've only had it for a month and this shouldn't be happening.

check your rings if you have a mark of 925. In this case, is made of silver and should not be peeled at all. If you have a label that could be costume jewelry, which is a kind of cheap metal that is plated with rhodium or silver and white gold. That can rub off or in case of rhodium also may drop. "Silver" The term actually refers only to color, nothing more. Any solids from precious metals need to have some type of seal to demonstrate what it is. One more thing, sometimes, sterling silver is rhodium plated. Could still peel off but the metal below must be stamped 925 sterling silver and have the appropriate color. Best idea would be to bring it back, and find exactly what metal is.
