How is it that has only Toho Godzilla movies for a long time?
Toho Godzilla wanted to put into retirement (again). He may be back in 2013 or 2014 for the 59th or 60th anniversary. They've done it once before in 1995. After Godzilla vs. Destoroyah new films were not provided until 2005 (giving the series some much needed rest). Toho was reported, had simply run out of new ideas and wanted a little time for the series to become in pure. Fortunately with the launch of the terrible American Godzilla, Toho lit the creative fire and brought back the series in 1999 with the somewhat strange name Godzilla 2000. Four more films followed, ending with Godzilla: Final Wars in 2004.
