Monster Mayhem: Build and Battle is the latest DS release from Brain Toys and Crave Entertainment, a title that invites you to play the role of mad scientist, create an intimidatingly powerful Monster Creature, and send him into combat — to play Rock, Paper, Scissors. Seriously.

It’s not called that, of course, but it’s functionally identical. Monster-versus-monster battles here present a view of the action on the DS top screen, then an attack selector menu on the touch screen below.
You’re given the option to choose Strike, a quick attack that seeks to catch your opponent off guard. Or Pound, a stronger punching assault that smashes through defenses. Or, lastly, the Guard option — which deflects weaker, faster punches and then counter-attacks.
It’s disappointing to have spent the time and effort to create and level-up your own personal Frankenstein and then come to find that the battles you’ve been preparing for are so underwhelming and dull.
And, worse, the Rock, Paper, Scissors design is inherently luck-based — if you successfully predict what your opponent’s about to choose, you win. If not, you lose. There’s no real strategy to it at all, so whether you win (and whether you can advance further in the game) is entirely arbitrary.
The battles are just the end point of Monster Mayhem’s design, though — there’s plenty more frustration and disappointment before you even get that far. Starting off, for example, you’re in your monster-making lab and working to craft your very own custom creature.

The choices are so limited, though, that it feels like you’re only selecting from a handful of pre-made option rather than truly creating your own individual monster.

Toy Monster Talk about 2001-2002?
When I was little, I remember receiving this big orange monster alien talking electronic kind of thing accompanying smaller, and anyway there were colorful and had a heart of them and an antenna. Does anyone remember this? what were their names?
I will take a wild guess based on the first thing that came to mind when reading the description: "Certainly Luvs WUV were orange and such occasionally. Luvs, also WUV came with at least a little, once in two smaller ones. They had a heart of challenging them and see what you mean by the antenna. They were also known for a while as Wuvvies.
